Nico is determined to tackle the issue of the lack of exposure that children in underdeveloped countries have to education. He discovered his desire to solve this problem when he met Dax, a 16 year old from Guatemala.
Dax left school when he was 8 so that he could contribute to supporting his family and in part due to the fact that it was a norm in his country.
Nico was shocked with what he witnessed and found himself wondering why these countries are not exposed to the importance of education. In a world where those that are privileged have access not only to good education but at times even free educational courses like Khan Academy.
Nico joined this program because he wanted to make a difference in this world. He wants to help the children in the world be able to afford education.
Nico is still working on a solution but is facing challenges as these countries are poverty stricken and therefore have no access to technology and hopes to work with the students at this camp to solve this issue.
“lenient laws around education are the basis for a destructive spiral leading to an increase of poverty in underdeveloped countries.”
